Call of Duty: WWII on PS4 Pro will have better… facial animations?

3.6
Recently, Game UK leaked the fact that Call of Duty: WWII would be 4K- and HDR-capable on the Xbox One X. So that was exciting.

However, we still don’t have many details about how the upcoming return to a “boots on the ground” Call of Duty will benefit from the PlayStation 4 Pro’s buffed-up hardware. What we do know, thanks to a recent interview with developer Sledgehammer Games’ co-founder Michael Condrey, is that the facial animations will at least look better.

In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine UK for the publication’s November issue, Condrey said, “The new facial system, the new animation system, the new rendering physics system, [PS4] all brings that to life. This power, you know, we’re taking full advantage of the PS4 Pro and everything it’s doing to really bring that fidelity out.”

On top of that, Headquarters mode—the 48-player social space that will include medal ceremonies and one-on-one competitions, among a ton of other cool little features—will also benefit from the PS4 Pro’s power, according to Condrey, though specific details about how it will benefit are still unknown.

This announcement might not give goosebumps to PS4 Pro players looking forward to the highest-quality visuals, but it’s still interesting to consider how much emphasis Condrey puts on, of all things, facial animation and how the PS4 Pro could possibly make those aspects of the game more lifelike.

While Call of Duty: WWII‘s technical enhancements for both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro have yet to be officially announced, we expect that one of the biggest title’s of the year will be getting the full treatment, including 4K visuals.

Call of Duty: WWII is launching for Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 3rd.
