Bethesda says Doom and Skyrim are just the start of its Switch support

4.1
With the recent announcements of Bethesda bringing three of its most high-profile titles to the Nintendo Switch, it raises the question of if this is a one-time deal or an ongoing commitment to the platform.

During a recent preview event, Pete Hines, Bethesda’s VP of marketing and communications, cleared up any ambiguity, saying the company wants the launch of Doom, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to be “the start of a relationship that we build with Nintendo and Nintendo fans.”

Speaking with VentureBeat, Hines stated:

“We’ve been in constant conversation with them, and not just about the two games we have now, but about our whole approach to the platform going forward—what we can do, best practices, what things are a good fit, what they’re excited about in what we’re doing. We’re obviously excited about these two games, but it’s not as if we’re going to just do these two games and that’s it.”

Among the current possibilities to come to the Switch under Bethesda’s umbrella is The Evil Within 2, and thankfully, creative supervisor and former series director Shinji Mikami thinks the game is a good fit. “I think a Switch version would be interesting. I’d like to try it if I had the chance,” Mikami said to GameSpot. While the survival horror sequel is releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at the October 13th launch, the genre would be an exciting addition to the Switch, as horror games are few and far between not only on the new console but for Nintendo in general. Until there’s a definite announcement of the sequel making its way to Nintendo’s latest console, get amped for the return to Sebastian’s story with our new gameplay footage and interview with Mikami and director John Johannas.

While Skyrim for the Switch has an official launch date of November 17th, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is just listed for 2018. Doom has a similarly vague release widnow, but a recent leak from a Czech retail site may have outed its actual street date.

Really dislike the Switch and don't see how people actually enjoy it but hey that's my two cents.

Craig Woo, more 30FPS games to come... 2017 lads.

The switch is actually probably one of the best handhelds out there yeah its 30fps but Majority of people will buy it due to its games and how you can switch from TV to hand held.

Skyrim would be fun to play on the switch but I probably wouldn't even attempt doom.

Wonder what type of other games they will add.

That is an ignorant statement considering the the fact that the Switch is running a modified android CPU/GPU. Doom 2016 at 30 FPS on a handheld is actually pretty amazing.
