Is this our first look at PUBG’s desert map layout?

4.1
A recent patch on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds‘ test servers may have revealed the mini-map for the game’s upcoming new desert map, giving us our first real look at the much-anticipated map’s layout.

The map, which will be half the size of the game’s original map, looks to include one of the game’s densest urban areas in the southeastern part of the map, which we may have seen in a recent tweet from creator Brendan Greene. A mountain range will run along the eastern and southern borders of the map, with a prison on the far southern side of the mountains. A military base can be spotted in the north, with an area named “Cartel Mansion” in the center of the map.

What is not included, to the relief of many PUBG players, is water, though the game’s third map, which is set on an island in the Adriatic Sea, will surely be wetter than ever.

The image of the mini-map was created in a neat trick of reverse engineering after players datamined the patch’s game files under a directory titled “Desert_Map” and then created an overhead representation in UModel. All of this is to say that, since these files were being added into the patch, developer Bluehole might be getting ready to introduce the map to the test servers soon.

While PUBG is still in early access, it has sold 10 million copies since its release in March with a concurrent player peak of 970,000 and continues to update it with free content, weapons, and fixes. The only thing that it’s missing is some map variety, though that will be changing in the future.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on PC and will be launching for Xbox One later this year.

That looks like a very complex map, might be annoying to play

Wow Hard Luck is going to be absolutely massive. Can see it being the new military base.

-Silky Looks quite a small map for PUBG so I guess this will bring out the camping snipers even more but even so can't wait for this.
Apparently it's the same size as the current one, 8km x 8km. I seen it in an interview with Player Unknown. Looks interesting though!
