Destiny 2 accidentally put a racist symbol on an in-game item

4.4
Bungie was recently forced to remove a pair of legendary Gauntlets from Destiny 2 after discovering they included a reference to a “hate symbol.”

The Road Complex AA1 gauntlets, which can be seen below, apparently included the “KEK” symbol and a similar green coloring to that of the “Kekistan” flag, a particularly popular symbol among modern white supremacist groups.

While Bungie was not forthcoming about how the symbol made it into the game in the first place, simply saying the inclusion of the symbol was “not intentional,” it quickly removed the imagery on the gauntlets from the game’s shared world during some recent server downtime.

However, as Waypoint points out, while the inclusion of the symbol in Destiny 2 might not have been intentional by Bungie or Activision, it’s unclear if it was someone’s intention to include what is unmistakably a reference to the “alt-right” and white nationalist movements. However, there was no comment from Bungie about any punitive measures that may have been taken, only that Bungie “place[s] the highest emphasis on inclusion of all people and respect for all who work with us or play our games,” according to a statement from CEO Pete Parsons.

In happier Destiny-related news, Destiny 2‘s first raid went live today, although you will need a power range of 260 to 280 to enjoy it.

Destiny 2 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a PC version arriving on October 24th.

This is all a load of shit. I don't see nor never saw anyone complaining about the nazi flags in black ops 1 zombies which was a huge hit. I have no idea where all these pus**** came from but I'm getting sick of seeing everyday how offending everything is.

As I'm writing this I just watched on tv people calling for the star spangled banner to be rewritten and renamed because it's racist. Like what the actual **** is going on. They vandalized the statue of F.S. Key who wrote it.

BJP Ah yes that super racist symbol that literally says "Laughing out loud" in some ingame language in world of warcraft that was then adapted to use as a "new" way of saying "lol" on websites like 4chan. Then 4chan found out there is a ancient god called "Kek" which is a frog so they linked it to pepe the frog... You would think game devs have some sort of knowledge of "internet culture". Removing words, symbols or whatever because they hurt someone's feelings is becoming the norm and its utter bs.

im sure the people at bungie who made it knew exactly what it was. It's just that SJW have associated it with racism and rather than have a bunch of people who don't play video games flame bungie for having it they removed it themselves.

Not sure if it is actually related to racist remarks but regardless it's good that they've addressed it.

People are just so quick to get offended over the smallest things.

Just google " road complex AA1 gauntlets" on google images.

It doesn't have anything to do with white nationalism or white supremacy. It's literally a meme on 4chan lmao
