New features being added to FIFA 18’s Career Mode

EA Sports has outlined a number of improvements that have been made to FIFA 18‘s Career Mode.

To begin with, the transfer negotiation process has been overhauled to offer players “immersive, real-time transfer and contract negotiations.”

“With interactive decision wheels, you can now negotiate in-person with opposing club and player representatives, including managers and agents to strike a deal for that must-have addition to your squad,” the developer explains. “You can also delegate the negotiations to your assistant from the new Transfers Hub if you don’t wish to be present in the talks.”

Players can simply select a player from the shortlist in the Career Hub to complete the transfer in one of two ways. The first, allows players to meet the manager or a representative of the selling club in their office to arrange a fee for the player. Using the new decision wheel, players are able to submit an offer fee, and even include optional conditions such as a sell-on clause. After submitting an offer, a dialog with the opposing manager will begin, during which counter-offers can be put on the table. While the second lets players negotiate directly with the player and his agent to determine wages, contract length, role in the squad, release clauses, and bonuses.

Following the deal being struck, players will get to experience another of Career Mode’s new features: dynamic news clips. In FIFA 18, all club and player dealings, as well as important news throughout the football world will be shown via new dynamic clips that are powered by the Frostbite Engine.

“For example, when players move clubs you’ll now see dynamic representations of their announcement and unveiling, including billboards, line-up shots with their new teammates and press conference presentations with their new manager,” the developer adds. “In addition to transfer dealings, you’ll also see new visuals when players win their league’s Player of the Month award, and when your team wins a title or cup.”

Other changes to Career Mode include expanded training options, a quick sub system that avoids having to pause the game, new team styles, and new broadcast packages for La Liga, the MLS, and the Premier League.

FIFA 18 will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Nintendo Switch from September 29th. However, players who pre-order the Ronaldo Edition or Icon Edition of the game can play three days earlier on September 26th.
