Microsoft addresses the size of original Xbox’s backward compatible

Xbox fans have had more to praise on top of the announcement of the Xbox One X, as Microsoft’s E3 press conference also revealed titles from the first Xbox generation will be available through backward compatibility. Of course, players have been eager to learn just how many games from the back catalogue will be released, but when comparing the list to the over three hundred and eighty-five Xbox 360 games currently available, Microsoft still hints it won’t be anywhere near that many.

In an interview with GameSpot, Microsoft’s Dave McCarthy echoed the recent statements of Xbox head Phil Spencer that the original Xbox games available through backward compatibility will not be close to the high number of Xbox 360 games. During the E3 conference, Microsoft showed off Crimson Skies and Fusion Frenzy as OG titles coming to the backward compatibility program, but since then, there haven’t been other concrete announcements. “We have multiple games up and running—we just decided to tease the first one[s],” said McCarthy. “There will be a library of games for sure.”

As for how extensive that library will be, McCarthy added it was “too early to say.” While this news is disheartening, Microsoft still seems dedicated to bringing as many first-generation games to the program as possible. McCarthy explained Spencer was instrumental in creating the backward compatibility option, as he understood fans would be excited to have games from every iteration of the Xbox available to play on the Xbox One X.

The size of the backwards compatable library of 360 games doesnt even matter because most of them are terrible games nobody played to begin with
