Original Xbox Backward Compatibility games will not have achievements

Following in the footsteps of Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility on Xbox One, Microsoft’s Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, unveiled at the company’s E3 2017 briefing that they will be going one step further (or is it backwards?) by introducing Original Xbox Backward Compatibility.

Fans applauded after realising that old classics from the OG Xbox days will potentially be coming to their 2017 console of choice, be it Xbox One, Xbox One S, or Xbox One X.

One Xbox player interested in replaying Original Xbox games questioned Xbox’s Mike Ybarra on whether or not Original Xbox games will have achievements added to them; keep in mind that achievements were not added until Xbox 360.

Quite simply, no. Microsoft will not be adding achievements to Original Xbox games, however, this was expected as achievements were not a feature of Microsoft’s console back then.

Yeah i suppose i can see why this is, would have been great if one day they could maybe fix this problem. Still just having Xbox Backward Compatibility is such an awesome feature so im not at all complaining.

Would have been a nice addition to be able to get achievements and show your true OG gamer stripes.

I still have my Sega dreamcast, old Xbox, Gamecube and N64 stashed away somewhere

It would of been cool if they took the extra time to add some achievements. But it probably wasn't worth it in their eyes.

Honestly, this doesn't bother me. Just being able to play old nostalgic games is enough. Can't wait to dig out my old Xbox games that I couldn't bring myself to get rid of. I still have my original Xbox somewhere too. Being able to play older games without having to setup an old console is great.

Got GS reset anyways so i'm not bothered by them not having achievements.

I wish they bring the Baldurs Gate series to BC for digital purchase too

Yeah I didn't think they had achievements and like stated it was expected that they wouldn't have any achievements, can't wait to play some oldies.
