Sonic Mania might have let its release date slip

Since being announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, Sega’s 2D Sonic revival, Sonic Mania, has been quiet on an exact release date. However, the current trailer on the European Steam page has revealed a possible launch of August 15th, 2017.

While the trailer on the U.S. Steam page still states summer 2017 as the launch, GameSpot reports the European page now lists the mid-August date at the end of its trailer. This reveal could mean the US will get the same launch date, as it does line up with the current summer release window, but let’s hope a more solid answer will appear through a new trailer or official announcement.

The last word on Sonic Mania‘s release came in March, when Sega announced a delay from a spring 2017 launch to one in summer 2017, instead. The game will be a mixture of reimagined stages from Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles, with new additional Zones, Acts, and bosses. Sonic Mania will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Sonic was always fun as a adolescent and I'm sure it will bring back some good memories. I will definitely be picking this up at the end of the summer hopefully.
