Red Dead Redemption 2 is NOT Releasing a Week After Destiny 2

After launching a subtle and short teaser trailer in the fall of last year, Red Dead Redemption 2 has slipped back under the radar, as Rockstar has remained silent in regards to its upcoming western. In place of any news, fans have gotten a ton of rumors and speculation, with most trying to pinpoint exactly when the game would release. The latest comes from Brandon Jones, former founder of GameTrailers and current Editor In Chief of EasyAllies, who set the internet ablaze over the weekend when he seemingly let slip details that Red Dead Redemption 2 is launching a week after Destiny 2 on September 15, 2017.

The casual Red Dead Redemption 2 release date mention comes around the 15 minute 24 second mark in the video, which was put together to discuss the recent Destiny 2 gameplay reveal. Before wrapping up his impressions, Jones admits a concern for the amount of time he’d have to actually play the title due to RDR2’s launch a short week later. What gives life to this rumor is that not only is Jones well connected around the industry, he’s also a judge for the E3 Game Critics Award. This means he already has a working knowledge of what will be at the show, while no doubt still under embargo.

Interestingly enough, after realizing the comment he had made in the video regarding the currently unannounced launch date, Jones posted a follow up on his personal Twitter account to hopefully clear up the confusion. In his statement, Jones wrote the incident off completely, calling it a simple accident and nothing that was related to being an E3 judge in anyway.
