Fable franchise ‘has a lot of places it could go,’ says Xbox boss

4.2
Despite the cancellation of Fable Legends and its studio, Lionhead, being shut down, Microsoft still sees a future for the Fable franchise.

Responding to a fan asking for Fable 4 on Twitter, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that there’s “nothing to announce right now,” but he feels “the IP has a lot of places it could go.”

Fable Legends was in development at Lionhead Studios for Xbox One and Windows 10 until last year when the studio was closed by Microsoft. At the time, it was reported that several publishers offered to buy Lionhead before it was shuttered, but Microsoft turned down the offers, because it didn’t want to sell the rights to the Fable IP.

The last main entry in the series was Fable III, which was released for Xbox 360 in 2010, before being brought to PC in 2011.

Played Fable 2 endlessly. Fable 3 was pretty decent. Was super bummed when i hear Lionhead was shutdown, i hope the IP takes off some time in the next few years.
