Call Of Duty 2017 Confirmed to Feature “Traditional Combat” Again

4.8
During Activision’s financial conference call for calendar year 2016, the company confirmed that 2017’s Call of Duty game is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, that brought us Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in 2014.

While this will probably surprise no one, Activision promised to take the franchise “back to its roots,” with traditional combat “taking once again center stage.”

According to Activision, this is exciting both for the Call of Duty community and the developers at Sledgehammer Games.

The company explained that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was a “high quality, innovative game,” but admitted that the game underperformed compared to expectations, and the space setting “just didn’t resonate” with a portion of the audience.

We heard that, while Activision saw the risks in the setting, they had a a passionate and committed studio at work on it, and believed that it’s important to consider the passion of developers in deciding what content to create.

While the game wasn’t the success Activision planned, the company underlined the fact that it allowed to protect a “core tenet of its culture,” which is empowering development teams to pursue opportunities that they’re passionate about.

“Providing an environment that recognizes this passion is a critical component of our success, and the process of learning from our mistakes is what makes our company special.”

T0P I swear down if it's got micro-transactions in it I'm selling my Xbox

might as well sell it now, they are not going to stop micro transactions now, no point, they are making too much money from it to just stop it

NubbyGains Sweet! Hopefully it's modern-themed. That was my favorite series to play online and especially campaign.

please god no more modern war games. They need to go back to the World War 2 setting or maybe try a Korean War or even better, a Russian Civil War setting setting

Wow so such a collection of positive spin words for a company that has produced nothing. Riding on the coat tails of a collaborative effort in MW3 they started a downward spiral into the hole COD has found itself in with Advanced Warfare and the futuristic rubbish that has been pumped out.

Its no wonder when they came from the Dead Space camp and pushed the idea onto COD.

Graphically they arent pushing anything for new development in the genre and are still living in an old console world without any innovation or appeal.

Don't believe anything they say and until actual game play is out, wont believe anything until I see it with my own eyes.

Maybe they should just close up shop and realise they are better off going into the construction business with their dads, maybe then they can build something worthwhile and that will last.

wr125x WaW 2 or MW4 or Black Ops 4 and i'm down

we won't get any of them three
lol really...

Innovative? Committed studio? If anyone believes this BS I feel sorry for them. 90% of the community has been asking for a WaW remake or another WW2/1 shooter. Problem is, half of that 90% is 10-15 yo kids who don't see the problem with them being "innovative"

Almost every game series that I can think of that changes too much from what made it great, looses its player base very quickly.

We don't want "innovative" we don't care how "committed" the studio is. We want the games that we all love to last forever.

I'm pretty sure I just had a mild aneurism when I read call of duty 2017, like BRO! CALM DOWN! You just gave us a cod 4 months ago.
