Fail0verflow running Linux, Steam and Portal 2 on PS4

4.5
The hacker Marcan42 from the famous group Fail0verflow demonstrated a new exploit in PlayStation 4 console with version 4.05 firmware.

The presentation made during the event CCC33, shows how hackers were able to make compliant Linux architecture of the PS4. Marcan42 repeatedly explained that despite the seeming properties, the console is significantly different from what we now call IBM compatible PC.

The attack used the technique man-in-the-middle against PCIE bus console and let's ride on Steam as a demonstration that 3D hardware acceleration works.

Developments in the current version of the exploit are improved compatibility on Linux with some of the functions of the PS4, and that before the exploit required firmware 1.76. This time he was carried off the console with 4.05 but representative Fail0verflow confirmed that it did not intend to release exploit code publicly. For the moment the focus of the group is to achieve a 100 percent Linux port. For all enthusiasts, the current archive Fail0verflow is available in the on GitHub .

I always thought this type of stuff was pretty neat, too bad I'm not intelligent enough to figure that shit out.

Would be good if they manage to get a 100% Linux port. Excited for the future to see what we can really do with these consoles.

VHz Bloody in depth as f*ck to do the hack, lots of time and effort put in by them. Now we wait for a simpler version and also for the XB1 to be pwned.

You do realise microsoft could blow sony out the water without even trying..

You do realise i'm talking about the xbox one being hacked next.

Even though a fully exploited XB1 or PS4 aren't out yet, I'm going to just lol at the people that kept saying it would be impossible

Not really surprised a group found their way inside per se, well see how long their "not intend to release publicily" lasts
