Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Includes Nearly 20% Of 360 Library

4.8
The Xbox One’s backward compatibility feature has recently reached an impressive milestone – there are now over 300 Xbox 360 games that can be played on your Xbox One. That is a fine showing for a feature that was introduced a little over a year ago. There are still a number of questions, though. One of the big questions remaining is how this number compares to the entire Xbox 360 library.

One Xbox fan crunched the numbers there are approximately 1,722 Xbox 360 games that might have been made backwards compatible for the Xbox One. However, about 160 of these games can never be added to the program because they require additional hardware that is not supported by the Xbox One (Guitar Hero titles, for example.)

That leaves 1,562 Xbox 360 games that could potentially be played on Xbox One. There are currently 308 backward compatible games as of this writing meaning 19.72% of the Xbox 360 library that could be played on Xbox One is already part of the BC library. If Microsoft and third party publishers keep up this pace then it is feasible that over half of the Xbox 360 library could be made backward compatible by this time next year.

The Xbox One backwards compatibility program was initially announced during Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference. The program had a soft rollout on that day and was officially launched in November of 2015.

It's a good concept they've got going with BC, just a shame most of the games are rubbish. Developers aren't stupid though, well sought after games will just get remastered or putting it on BC will take away from any new releases.

I wish they would finally put Black Ops 2 as a backwards compatible game.

I hope MW2 comes out sometime or a remaster

20% is a good amount seen as it hasn't been going on that long.

I hope eventually all 360 games will be compatible to Xbox one. I'm sure if that were to ever happen it would take ages. But still 19% as of right now is pretty good news. Thanks for sharing TTG!

Brandon They'll [unfortunately] never bring MW2 or H3 to backwards compat because it would [slightly] kill sales for future Halo's and Cod's.

I do not see how? MW2 is a game loads of people loved.

Oh yes they have a bunch of games that no one plays and arent actively trying to get games that a large majority wants. (red dead) (Bo2) and more to say..

SilkyPosted:
