Xbox Wire’s Editor in Chief Will Tuttle revealed today that Xbox’s “Countdown” sale will begin December 22nd and last until January 9th. Dubbed the “biggest sale ever”, the promotion will offer deals on games, movies, TV shows, music, and apps on both a daily and weekly basis.

Titles from both Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be included, with discounts up to 60% off and over 40 backward compatible titles featured in the sale as well.

What’s more is that those users who own either console will be able to purchase Xbox Live Gold for just $1 during that time period. Though the $1 only applies for the first month of membership, having the perk also lends added discount to select games in the sale.

There’s no doubt that Microsoft is confident in Xbox Live, as the console manufacturer recently debuted a commercial advertising it as the fastest and most reliable gaming network.
