PewDiePie hits 50 million subscribers, deleting his channel tomorrow

4.4
YouTube’s most popular channel, PewDiePie, hit a new milestone today, crossing 50 million subscribers. Earlier this week, in a rant about how changes to the service were costing him views, PewDiePie promised to delete his channel when he hit this milestone. In a tweet today, he said the end will arrive at noon (5PM GMT) tomorrow.

Promising to delete your channel, like announcing that you’ve decided to quit YouTube, or cancel your vlog, is not something most creators follow through on, at least not for good. But as PewDiePie put it, “complaining about YouTube gets you views.” It’s a populist punching bag that creators are only to happy to take advantage of when they are looking for a headline that will cut through the clickbait.

Tele I don't understand at all.

YouTube has changed the way it works and has a fair few problems with it now. People are being unsubscribed from channels for no reason, some videos from channels they are subbed to aren't showing in their subscription feeds (they also complain about how the subscription feed isn't as visible as it used to be, and now the main thing you see is recommended videos on your homepage). People like PewDiePie aren't getting as many views as they should because of these, plus YouTube now favours clickbait, essentially videos that are getting lots of comments, likes or dislikes get more publicity via the homepage or recommended videos now. PewDiePie is deleting his channel at this milestone to protest this however, he is not quitting YouTube he said he will just create a new channel and start again from 0, its kind of a F you to YouTube, first channel to hit that milestone and then it is immediately gone.

sh*t well I guess I was wrong :L
