Activision fixes early Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered MP Access

Activision has today locked down Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’s public online servers, after a glitch allowed PS4 users to gain access to the title’s multiplayer almost a week ahead of release.

Those players who pre-ordered the game have been able to play the remastered first-person shooter’s campaign mode since October 4, but a glitch introduced with the release of a patch yesterday allowed some users full access to the game – including its online multiplayer component.

A further loophole then allowed all Modern Warfare Remastered users to get online simply by joining another player who had a match in progress – either via their friends list or, more accessibly, the PS4’s communities section.

This afternoon, however, Activision and developer Raven Software have locked down all online game types in a bid to quell the unintended early access; all matchmaking attempts now return a “Playlist Unavailable” error message. That being said, some users are still reportedly having success playing private matches, although it’s expected that this too will shortly be fixed.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered launches alongside the latest entry in the popular franchise, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, on November 4.

wish I could play some private matches to see how the game is. Do the servers go up a day before release?
