Phil Spencer on the difference between Project Scorpio and PS4 Pro

A lot has been said and done about the comparison between Sony’s upcoming PS4 pro and Microsoft’s Project Scorpio, despite the fact that they’re divided pretty much by a year. Xbox division head honcho Phil Spencer was asked explicitly by the Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu what he thinks the difference between the two consoles is.

Spencer started by recognizing that describing a console isn’t as simple as dropping a number. Within the development team the keyword for the creation of Project Scorpio has been “balance.” The balance between memory, CPU and GPU is extremely important.

While describing the performance of Project Scorpio with “6 teraFLOPS” is easy, Spencer recognizes that those who have made games for a long time know that it’s not simply a matter of numbers. The main point of Project Scorpio is that it’s very balanced, and Spencer believes that the games that will run on Scorpio will be different from those that we’ll see this year.

ODST Wtf. Phil Spencer has ammunition to destroy Sony yet doesn't use it. If the scorpio isn't what they've been claiming it to be then they need to say it now because leading a hype train to an inevitable crash is the last thing Micro$oft should try doing right now.


It's all about marketing, if Spencer knows that withholding this information for another couple months will get more hype then that's what he'll do. In the end it's all about money but I am confident that the scorpio will be a great console.

He does know when to hold back and when to drop it. Just wait till they make some sort of statement he will for sure drop the facts.

I will definitely be buying the Scorpio when the time comes. the Pro and Slim don't catch my eye as I'm fine with my standard Ps4 and don't really game on it anyways.
