PlayStation 4 To Get 4K And Mod Support For Bethesda Games

4.7
After the initial controversy regarding the lack of mod support for Fallout 4 on the PlayStation 4, Bethesda Softworks has now announced that not only will both Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition be receiving mod support, but they will also be supported by the new PlayStation 4 Pro.

This information comes courtesy of Bethesda’s official website, where the developer explains the whole announcement in detail. One thing of note is that while both games will indeed support mods, they will be limited in scope.

“Mod support will come to Skyrim first. We and Sony have worked hard to make this possible. Mods on PlayStation 4 will allow you to modify and create your own content by using our Creation Kit available here. You will not be able to upload external assets with your PlayStation 4 mods, but you will be able to use any assets that come with the game, as most mods do.”

What this means is that mods that use currently existing assets will be allowed, but brand new ones that use custom assets, like say the Lazer Saber mod for Fallout 4 on the Xbox One, will not be allowed.
