There’s no doubt that when summer hits, games take the punch. We’re used to the drought as if it was the Sahara desert itself. This year was no different than any other, but according to Microsoft UK boss Neil Thompson, Bungie’s upcoming Halo: Reach will kick off an “industry regeneration.”

“There is transition going on,” said Thompson in an interview. “Over the last year, we are moving from more traditional console experiences and over the next two, three months we are going to see a whole new breadth of experiences. I think Halo: Reach is a great new start to that regeneration.”

Thompson’s got a point. Reach will mark the beginning of releases this fall, not only followed by software, but hardware as well. Sony’s Move is launching right after Reach hit shelves, with sports games as NHL 11 and FIFA 11 following its steps. Once October hits, another need-to-be-big hitter will find its way to retailers in the form of Medal of Honor. And form there, the momentum will only keep growing with Treyarch’s Black Ops and Microsoft’s own motion-controller Kinect among others.
