Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox One was the best selling game console in the U.S. during the month of July, according to the latest numbers from the research firm The NPD Group.

The news was broken by Aaron Greenberg, the head of marketing for Xbox Games, on his Twitter feed.

As usual, Microsoft did not reveal specific unit sales for the Xbox One. This is the first time in several months that the console has beat Sony's PlayStatation 4 for the top spot, and was likely helped by the company's move to cut the price of the 500GB version of the Xbox One down to $249 earlier in July.
