Got Halo Reach early legally? Bad luck if you want to play it right now

Bungie have confirmed that anyone who is playing a LEGITIMATE copy of halo reach early will loose all player credits and purchased items on the official launch day. They want everyone equal and the only way to do that is to reset everyone who got an early copy. Community content writer Eric Osborne said that it is aware copies will be available before release and wanted a clean slate to counter early adopters.

"Don’t get too attached to any fancy new gear you might have already acquired. Consider any expenditures or investments you’ve made in the Armory the cost of doing business early," he said.

"It’s nothing personal; we just want to make sure the playing field is kept nice and level upon launch. It's only fair."

The pre-release window should be considered a "test environment", with matchmaking and the daily challenge system running at a less than optimal pace.

It was added that credits acquired offline will be "reduced significantly" when connected to Xbox Live in order to counter boosting or cheating.

"For players without a connection to the outside world, the system is simply accelerating the credits being awarded to allow them to experience the Armory at a realistically achievable (but decidedly lonely) offline pace," said Osborne.

"For those who opt for a more social experience, the grind is a little more protracted, but still profoundly fun."
