Destiny ending Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner for PS3 and Xbox 360

4.7
Fans of Bungie’s widely successful shooter are already well aware of the fact that developers are currently working on Destiny’s latest expansion, Rise of Iron. As previously reported, Bungie has decided to leave behind older generation console players by excluding the upcoming DLC for PS3 and Xbox 360. However, Bungie seems to be fully focusing on PS4 and Xbox One ports, because the studio has recently announced that players on last-gen consoles will no longer have access to Destiny’s online events such as Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris. Additionally, developers also plan to close off methods for purchasing silver, the game’s in-game currency used in micro-transactions. Support for these features will reportedly end around sometime in August.

Many of these changes will understandably displease fans, as the studio seems to want to encourage players to make the jump to current-gen consoles, since “90% of Destiny players are present on PS4 and Xbox One.” Still, its also worth noting that players on last-gen consoles will still have access to raids, weekly nightfalls and strike playlists, as well as the famous Prison of Elders.

However, the message is loud and clear. Bungie plans to completely phase out last-gen consoles, but are taking things slowly in order to give players time to upgrade their consoles to newer versions. The developers likely recognise that many players might not be able to make the transition to current-gen due to financial constraints and other reasons, but Bungie do want to focus on the newer systems, since the majority of video game developers are doing the same. With the PlayStation Neo and Xbox Scorpio coming soon, developers may completely ditch production of content for last-gen consoles entirely.

I don't really see a point in releasing new games nor extra content to certain games due to it being a 10 year old console, Now in days the next gen are cheap so far. I think they should keep to adding more content on their. Eventually everyone is going to be on PS4/Xbox from the old gen.

Discrete Well this sucks for all the 360 and PS3 lovers

in all fairness the current gen have been out for what 3 years now? so for a console like the 360 thats over 10 years old, it was bound to happen eventually and the cost of the XB1 and PS4 are quite low these days, you can pick a 2nd hand one up for about £150

I love destiny and have a ps4 if you are old gen and haven't realised already but most games are trying to do this already. if you love games like these get a new gen..

Don't really feel too bad for the last-gen people considering it's nearly, what, 3 years since the release of current-gen consoles?
It's about time for them to move on and upgrade.
