Hey all,

I always wonder how many people dream at night. I rarely have dreams nowadays. This is most likely because I'm not getting enough sleep.

Do you have dreams?

A follow up: Do you use anything to help you sleep? I use melatonin fairly often. There seems to be no rhyme or reason when I take melatonin if I'll have dreams. If I do, they're either the best dreams or nightmares.

What are your thoughts/experiences?

Much love

I have mild narcolepsy so i used to dream a lot as a kid and even learned how to lucid dream but nowadays i rarely dream. I don't need to take meds for sleep since I'm pretty much out in about 5 mins tops if i'm not doing anything like watching a video on my phone

On the flipside, I used to get sleep paralysis a ton when i was younger. Probably about 2-3 times as a kid and it started getting more and more uncommon now i get it about 3-5 times a year. I remember my mom having to sit in class with me to wake me up whenever i got drowsy, Good times

I always wanted to learn how to lucid dream especially after seeing inception. Having to regulate your sleep is obviously something I'm not very good at.

I've never had sleep paralysis but I know a lot of people who have had it a lot in their life. Truly, it sounds terrifying to be awake and not able to move your body.

I seem to always dream after I wake up in the middle of the night and try to go back to sleep One thing I have been doing for years is I have to sleep with noise. So a fan or tv on. But they say your room should be completely dark. No led lights from a tv. No PC. In your room no monitors or cell phone light. Any type of light can keep you from a deep sleep Lately I have been listing to. Sounds of rain noises with a fan on also. Noises help me sleep. With the sound of rain. Really relaxes me and I have been sleeping longer and lover and better rested now days. Try not to eat. After 6pm if you go to bed. Around 10 pm or 11 pm. No caffeine. Either or sugar. Has helped me a lot I take and put two bottles of water. Incase I wake up due to. Being thirsty. Usually can go right back to sleep. I am a person who use to sleep 3 or 4 hours a night now I can sleep 6 to 7 during the week and. 8 to 9 hours on the weekends

Growing up, I always used to sleep with white noise in the background. In college, I slept soundly with no noise at all but it was definitely an adjustment. Now, I live in a populated area that is right next to train tracks and it is once again soothing to hear cars and trains at night.

When melatonin doesn't work for me, I put on a 10 hour, dark screen, heavy rain and thunder on my tv. I fall asleep within 10 minutes that way. I don't know if you've ever been tent camping Rodent. But, sleeping in a tent with rain is perfection. Do you snore? If you do, do you ever wake yourself up from snoring?

I used to dream a lot when I was younger but nowadays it's very rare for me to dream.
I don't take any sleep medication but one thing that makes me fall asleep fast is white noise, a fan for example.
Sleeping in pure silence for me is terrible because I have a slight ringing in my ears and it's really annoying.

Fun fact - most people have dreams, it just becomes a point of if you remember them after you wake up.

There's some scientific mumbo jumbo that I'm not qualified to quote and what not but there's loads of scientific research on the subject.

Yeah I have quite a bit of nightmares actually. Mainly zombies/apocalypse type things.
