Well todays the day I have dreamed of since I can even remember. Today I head to the police academy to learn as much as possible to serve my community. I didn't even wanna post about it but I am so hopefully if someone else is in my shoes they can see with hard work and doing the next right thing, you can achieve your goals!
Long story short, as a young adult (18) I had made some bad decisions that led to me having a criminal record. At that time I was in high school in our ROTC program going into the Army as MOS 31B (Military Police). Due to my bad decisions I was removed from the ROTC program and denied the opportunity to serve my country. This put me in a spiral I thought I'd never get out of. I used a lot of substances and made more bad choices, without law enforcement getting involved thank god. While in this spiral I became very close with my dad who is a retired state trooper Captain. With his guidance compassion and tough love. I haven't used said substances in over 6 years! With my head clear and an amazing support system. I decided to reach out to my states governor to see if a pardon was possible. God and my loved ones watching over me made it happen. I was given the opportunity to speak with my states pardon board who then organized a meeting with the governor himself. I told him this same story with more detail of my mistakes, how I learned from them and how they made me the man I am today. Progress not perfection! I was given that pardon and that set a fire under my butt and motivated me to finally pursue my dream of being a peace officer. I quit tobacco, hit the gym lost 60lbs and got in the best shape of my life! (Chosen my legs are bigger :p) it took me 3 interviews, 6 months and a lot of being denied before a agency finally gave me a chance. I am a firm believer in you get what you give, and I gave a lot of negativity and violence to people who didn't deserve it. I don't deserve this opportunity but I am grateful and I'm going to give it 200%. I want to help the people in my community change their lives like I did mine. I want to server and protect my people with love and compassion. I will rid my community of criminals and help support those in need. If you're a spiritual or religious person I ask that you please pray for me because I'm so nervous happy excited I could throw up. I still have the rest of today before I head out so you'll see me on the forums! Love you TTG! 38 weeks without the internet, here I come! |
