a few years ago I got an account game ban on rust, and tried to play multiple times on different accounts and would be banned a few times, I stopped playing and recently got a new PC and have been playing for like 6 months perfectly fine, but I have been worried about turning VPN off.

Earlier today I accidentally opened rust and connected to a server without VPN on and I was worried I would get banned or something, It's been a few hours and no ban or nothing.
So, I am wondering about bans and HWID bans on rust, if I have a completely new PC, what precautions do I need to take? Can i log into my old account but not launch rust? do I need a VPN on? I have seen mixed things been posted around on different places.

I wouldnt log into the banned account at all if your on a new pc your fine to play on your new account. If its anything like battlenet/blizzard youll risk getting HWID ban again if you even log onto it on the ban account so no its not worth even risking it

Yeah so I haven't logged into the main account at all, or any steam account that is banned on Rust

My main worry is about the VPN, would it be fine to play with it off?

yeah I dont see why you need one unless it gives you easier lobbys because of the region like CoD? Im not sure ive never played rust but you should not need a vpn on, even on something like cod if you get perm ban and try to play on another account using a vpn it will still shadow ban you until it bans you permanently again and having a vpn wont help it or save you. You should be fine

Yeah okay, sweet, thankyou for the replies & just to confirm this theory, like I said above I had accidentally connected and was in a server for a min without VPN, so if it were to be a problem, it would have happen by now huh?

Game ban will be linked to the account not an IP thing, It's done via your steam ID for that profile that's all it is playing without a VPN will be perfectly fine, I've been banned on so many accounts on cod in the past I just get a new account and then rebuy the game I don't mess around with VPN's and I receive no bans
