Hello, i have been in and out if the modding scene for 10+ years now. I have not long come back but am wondering if i should open a store, i have plenty of stock still laying around.

I have been RGHing consoles and customising them for a while before i stopped and i also used to run a downgrade service for ps3 for a while. I just want to know if the demand is still there or would it just not be worth my time

Thanks guys

I was selling them on eBay up until a couple months ago. Plenty of people still buy them but the forums are dying off so advertising is the issue. eBay can get annoying and it's technically against their TOS but they don't usually do anything until competitors start reporting your listings. It's definitely a different type of customer as well.

I wouldn't even sell anything worth value on eBay tbh. eBay will side with the buyer 99.9% of the time so if the buyer says anything is wrong with the item they'll win.

Example, you sell a RGH for $100 or whatever. They purchase it, receive it then the next day they state you sent them a broken PS2. You obviously speak your case but eBay won't have it. eBay sides with the buyer and now you're out of a RGH, your $100 and it looks bad on your eBay profile.

There is little to no protection as a seller on eBay it's ridiculous. This was kind of a side rant to eBay itself and obviously not every buyer would pull something like this but just be aware if they do, you're pretty much sh*t out of luck even if you're telling the truth.

Not sure I totally agree but to each their own. I never had that issue although I had one person that tried. Wanted half their money back because I forgot to set a plugin (which was required for dash spoof 6717 to load). After walking them through how to set the plugin in Dashlaunch they started with the demanding half their money back and filed a claim when I declined because $90 for that is a little ridiculous. They didn't win but it cost me a negative review.

They're trash all together but it's about the only place left I know of that still gets enough traffic to move more than a few of them unless you get on an approved sellers list for some of these discord servers and reddit groups.

Yeah it really depends on the customer tbh. Some are scummy and eBay would rather keep the buyers over the sellers. A quick google search will give you a ton of horrible instances where genuine sellers get f*cked from their buyers scamming them. It's a he said she said type of thing a lot of the times and eBay almost always sides with the buyer. Which is why I don't wanna sell my RGH or PS5 on there lol. At least $600 would be lost between the 2.

I definitely understand from that perspective. I used to sell a pretty high volume so a loss here and there is not as big of deal if it were to happen. I probably wouldn't want to sell something like my series s or a PC there though so I see what you mean.

I mean you can definitely still sell on eBay but just be aware of the potential for buyers to scam you. Not to mention eBay's fees that they charge you to sell also which is up to about 13% of the product's value. eBay also will delete your post if you aren't lucky considering it's against eBay's ToS to sell RGHs most likely due to piracy I'm assuming.

I would try and sell on here, facebook marketplace, Discord or your own site if you can.
