Hello, so i wanted to ask you all a question, those of you, that is, who have, or have used a Shure MV7 microphone. I am wondering if buying a XLR cord as well as an audio interface is actually worth it. The reason i ask, is because unlike most microphones, this microphone sounds really good. Although, i wish i could have had the option to buy the SMB7, all my local Best Buy had to offer was the MV7.

So my question is to you, is there even a difference, or actually any sort of noticeable difference, before, or after editing the vocals in a program like Audacity, in the quality/recording of audio when using a XLR cord with an audio interface over just the standard USB connection. Just seems like if i was going to invest that much money, id rather just upgrade the whole microphone,

Thanks!!

I don't think buying an audio interface would be exactly necessary but it should increase the sound quality of the microphone. I do think if you know a bit about editing vocals that you would be able to get pretty close to the sound of the audio interface just using the USB. I would say to just use the microphone with the USB for now and if you are unhappy with the quality you can always obtain an audio interface later down the road. You can get decent audio interfaces such as the Scarlett Solo for just a bit over $100 and XLR cables are like $5.

when i had my little music setup, i experimented with Focusrite. They do make really good equipment.

i did have a solo at one point, good product. A used one from a local shop would be an even better price too.

I'm actually thinking about getting the same microphone so if you do get it let me know how you like it.

referring to the sm7b? if so.. man go for it lol. if i had the extra money i totally would! but sadly i can't even pay my medical bills from my amputation i had in december and as of 2 days ago my car needs some work done to get back on the road and my job is being difficult with giving out hours so im broke broke. I will say the mv7 isn't bad at all. i like itmore then my old blue yeti that i recently sold finally, but have a feeling that it'd be better with a XLR and audio interface like i said in the original post.

but like you said, whatever you DO get, PLEASE keep me updated

mind if i add you?
