Figured I'd share this and hopefully you all get a laugh

3 years ago I acquired a glass sculpture from an elderly woman whose husband was one of the CEOs of the Hershey Company - I figured, when I get a nice house it'll look nice as a piece in my living room. Fast forward to 3 days ago, someone hinted at the idea that the glass piece could cost money, and maybe take a look..wouldn't hurt right? I said "alright fine ill see what I can find", I took my shot and did a bit of research, and YUP LOL.

Turns out, it's a rare 1 of 5 Alessandro Pianon 'Pulcini' bird. A complete set of 5 of these birds is going for $75,000 - and there's barely any of mine available. The last identical bird of mine was sold for ~$11,000, and over the years of them selling, the price has increased dramatically - going from about $3000, to $11,000. Alessandro Pianon was a glass artist in Italy, born in the 1930's and made a few of these sets from 1963-1965 I believe, made with Murano glass, some of the best of the best, dating back thousands of years.

andddd I've had this thing sitting on my desk as a paperweight for the last 3 years..WHAT THE **** LOL

Guess i'll hold on to it for a little bit more and hope the price keep rising - would be nice to sell and use as a down payment for a house


Anyone else have something like this happen to them, or have any special "expensive" items you own and your holding on to?

I own a rare ring apparently worth over 70k. I have done very little research so i don't know much about its history. The less i know the better, but gave it to girl once as a gift. She ended up telling me about it... You can guess what I did next. Took that sh't back and dipped. End of that relationship, 90k? Btchhhh plzzzz kiss a dck thinking its yours.

hahahaha im dying over here - I would've done the same damn thing.. definitely keep that thing till you're 40 and sell it...you'd get some nice new toys

And fr, I had it in a box for a while, looking back I feel bad for abusing it lol - but you're right, almost gave it away 2 years ago not knowing, I'd probably be kms rn if I did
