Are you looking to buy and hold or day trade? I did day trading a while ago and made a decent amount of money out of it, I just didn't like it so I ended up switching to mutual funds. There's not a whole lot of money in mutual funds but generally speaking they keep up with inflation. Currently I've got around $50k in mutual funds and my portfolio shows I'm up $2184.20 so I'm getting a little over 4% return.
If you're looking to buy and hold for a month or two, the best advice I can give you is just watch the news. When United airlines ended up injuring a passenger trying to get him off the plane and then like a week later killed a dog, their stock went down a bit so I picked some up and made a killing off it in less than a month. Graham Stephan and Meet Kevin on Youtube have some pretty solid advice, I think it's Graham that actually puts out his whole portfolio and what he's invested in. Kevin is a little out there for my liking, but he's done very well for himself. My problem with him is I can't follow what he does because I don't fully understand why he invests in what he does but your brain might align with his more than mine does lol. Dogecoin is a rough one right now, I'm fighting every bone in my body to buy in again lol. I put in $100 just for the lols when it was around $0.15ish and sold near its first peak in the $0.40's. Currently it's trending around $0.20, but just a month ago is was $0.30, the reason I haven't invested in it again is because Elon Musk hasn't talked about it in a while. Usually it would drop 5 or 10 cents, Elon would make a tweet about it (didn't matter if it was good or bad) and it would sky rocket. Investing in memes like that isn't a bad gig, but for a beginner I wouldn't tell you to try to follow to the shorts like Gamestop or AMC until you get a better feel for the market. |
