Anti-virus software entrepreneur John McAfee has been found dead in a Barcelona prison cell, just hours after a Spanish court agreed to extradite him to the US to face tax evasion charges.

The Catalan Justice Department said prison medics tried to resuscitate him, but were not successful.

It said in a statement that "everything indicates" Mr McAfee took his own life.


For anyone unaware, McAfee was the founder of the McAfee Computer security company, John McAfee himself left the company in 1994 and it was later bought by Intel in 2011. McAfee's VirusScan was one of the first home anti-virus software packages for Computers.

All of this is coming out after just earlier the Spanish Judiciary branch announced they had approved the United States' request for extradition of McAfee for tax fraud and failure to pay. McAfee was being held in Jail in Spain since October of 2020 for failure to pay taxes as well as skirting the system via having payments and money moved into other people's accounts to hide his income. He'd been fairly vocal in his disdain for taxes since the mid 2000's.

Recently, McAfee sort of became well known for basically becoming unhinged, having moved to a compound in Belize to supposedly manufacture meth and avoid tax laws, as well as surrounding himself with armed body guards, prostitutes, and a whole lot of Bolivian marching powder. In 2012 he was also listed as a person of interest after his neighbor was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head shortly after having gotten into a heated argument with McAfee over McAfee's dogs.

This video from 2013 basically helps give you an idea of his recent behavior, and somewhat shows that he was self-aware of his uh eccentric interests


For anyone wondering since he was somewhat well known for his partying, being extremely wealthy (formerly), and probably involved with international crime in some way, this doesn't seem at all like an Epstein situation, McAfee had a whole lot of drug and mental health issues going on it seemed, fueled further by his access to large amounts of hidden cash and destructive habits. He seemed to be mostly alienated from the "elite" social circles due to these habits and the fact that he was basically a walking indictment. I'm assuming there won't be much controversy or very many conspiracies sprouting from this, it really just does seem like he knew his time was up and decided to take his own life unfortunately.

The guy literally had a tattoo that showed he would never commit suicide if something happened to him. And here we are -- he "committed suicide" but we all know he was killed by U.S officials.

Ignoring of circumstances surrounding his death for a second and just pointing out it's sad to see him leave us. Was a a very interesting guy that didn't play but the rules. RIP John.
