Hello, my name is Robert and I was just looking for some advice on my next pc build. I am currently stuck on which CPU would be good enough for the RX 5700 XT that I want to get but I also don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a CPU. I'm planning on building my new PC in late August 2019. The option that I'm interested in is the Ryzen 5 2600X, but I'm worried that the CPU will bottleneck and I won't be able to get as much performance out of my GPU. I'm just looking for advice on if anyone has experience with this CPU/ GPU combo, or if there may be a better option for me?

Depends on a lot of things.

What components do you have?
What components do you need?
What is your budget for everything you need, and what is your currency?
What exactly will the system be used for?
If you don't need a monitor, what monitor(s) will you be using?

- Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU Cooler
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3200
- ASRock B450 Steel Legend ATX Motherboard
- WD Blue SN500 500GB M.2-2280 SSD
- Radeon RX 5700 XT
- SeaSonic 520W 80+ Bronze Fully Modular PSU
- Phanteks Eclipse P350X Mid Tower Case
- 5 Pack of 140mm Case Fans

I've already picked out the parts on pcpartpicker.com and with the Ryzen 5 2600X, there seems to be no compatibility issues and says the estimated wattage would be about 470W. I'm just curious to know if the CPU will limit the performance of the RX 5700 XT.

My budget is around 1000 to 1200 dollars, and I will be using this PC for gaming and college. And the monitor I'll be using is a 24 inch 1920x1080 144Hz monitor.

I'd go for the R5 3600 over the 2600x. You'll notice a difference in some games at 1080p144Hz. I wouldn't get the Hyper 212 CPU cooler, either grab a nice $50ish cooler, or just use the stock cooler with the CPU. Also, I'd definitely be getting an aftermarket RX 5700XT since you'll be buying in August- the reference cooler 5700XT is not great. Also, the B450 Tomahawk should be back in stock by the time you order.

I appreciate the help, everything looks great! I planned on getting a 3rd party RX 5700 XT anyways, I've been watching reviews and yeah I can definitely see why I shouldn't go with the first version. Thank you!
