I'm looking to make a new machine, but I need Thunderbolt 3. I really want to make a Ryzen 7 3700x system, but I can't figure out if there are any motherboards for AMD cpu's that also support Thunderbolt 3.

Are there any AMD compatible boards that can support Thunderbolt 3?

Thanks.

As far as I am aware, Thunderbolt 3 isn't implemented by AMD (yet) due to Intel holding out on releasing specifications due to 'incomplete documentation' or other corporate rubbish.

What are you specifically wanting to achieve via Thunderbolt 3?

Nope, and you probably never will since TB3 is becoming USB4, so AMD will just implement USB4 instead on to future motherboards.

It's looking like 2020, maybe 2021 when we'll see USB4 on motherboards. AMD should be switching socket(AM4+/AM5?) next year most likely, with Zen3(unless we see a Zen2+ in the interim, which would likely remain AM4). I'd imagine when they do update the socket, they'll be implementing USB4, DDR5, and maybe even PCIe 5.0
