I think it's safe to assume it's going to be a shit show, not from what is shown, but from the sidelines of the people watching. PC gaming in general has been so damn all over the place because of the whole Steam v Epic fiasco and yeah, while some, if not most complaints/concerns are valid, I feel like it's going to bleed over to E3 and really just ruin the PC Gaming Show -- which doesn't help considering that Epic is supporting the PC Gaming Show lol

Personally I don't think Epic's platform is the worst, but it just needs modernizing and updating to compete with Steam, that's the only reason I'm opposed to using their service. I'm not a fan of their push for exclusivity deals though and if more of those get announced at this PC show I'm sure a lot of people will be pissed off.

100% agree. I've used their platform before, and yeah, it is rather luck luster in terms of things I feel that matters, security (literally a huge issue right now, Reddit has way too many posts with regards to it,) reviews and across the board regional pricing (think they're working on it now) being the biggest one, dedicated forums for a game/community hub for a game and a messenger that doesn't require you to be in game. I don't think Epic Games as a whole should just up and vanish, Steam does need a little push to get things working because there's a lot Steam gets right, but there's still plenty of stuff that needs to improved on. The problem I have with Epic, specifically Tim Sweeny, is he is a huge hypocrite and constantly goes back on his word, plus the whole throwing money for an exclusive deal for Metro Exodus that was already going to be on Steam then is pulled nearing it's launch, Randy Pitchford over at Gearbox is being smuggy as usual, with Tim just stroking his ego to the ass kissing by Randy and Tim constantly says "this is the last exclusive" and then comes right on in with a new one - when he used to criticise Microsoft for doing exclusive deals over on Xbox back in the day. For that reason, I am really going to try and avoid any of the PC Gaming Show booths when I go to E3 because I already know it's going be annoying and just so dysfunctional with people who have legitimate concerns/debates, vs trolls who just want to ruin the whole thing. I'm hoping the live stream fairs well, but not a single person should be surprised if that livestream is the most spiteful one yet.

Epic VA Steam seems to be in the light a lot lately. Them going back and fourth. Trying to out do each other. I agree with you they could use some small improvements. Especially, if they want to out do Steam and be in the number one spot. At the end of the day they could have done worse.

It's mostly in the light because of the controversy about Epic pretty much buying games to be on their platform first, with Steam's rather lackluster response. There is no denying that before this started happening, Steam v Epic wasn't even a thinking platform because Epic really wouldn't have any footing to compete with Steam on their storefront, if it was just no exclusives -- simply because Epic is so far behind Steam in terms of features/functions. Now it's come to light because games are being bought as timed exclusives or just flat out exclusives in some cases, the biggest one that lit the fire was Metro Exodus because that was pre-order on Steam forever, and I think a few weeks before launch, it was pulled from Steam and thrown onto the Epic Games store, which is what really set people off and everything else that has followed has just been another topic of discussion against Epic. I believe competition is good, it makes the opposing company have to step up to release a better product, but as it is right now, if Epic had the money to do so, it looks like they would buy every game as an exclusive to completely try and shut Steam down and with how shady Tim Sweeny has been - going back on his word with things - I wouldn't doubt if he would just prefer/want Epic as the monopoly for PC gaming and make Steam irrelevant.

so would you need to be on epics launcher to even play some of these games until they release for others?

I heard more games are gonna be released better ones. But we'll see what they say and have this year.

i hope so, i have been pretty bored when it comes to gaming recently

Yeah same here. I have new games I got for Christmas that I've played some. Like Red Dead 2. It's just I never have the time to really sit and game out. If I'm lucky on the weekend maybe an hour.

A lot of games recently hasn't caught my attention, either that or they have been stale after 2-3 hours of gameplay. Besides Resident Evil 2 remake.

maybe it's just me growing up but every game seems to be like that currently. some days i can play for more than like 3 hours but not nearly as much as i used to

We just need something new and exciting in the gaming world, spark the interest again. I'm hoping gta 6 does it

To my knowledge, yes. You can launch them through Steam or your desktop, but I think it'll just have you sign in like you would if you did the same for Battlefield over on Origin. The only exception would be games that were pirated. Metro Exodus and now apparently Borderlands 3 are offline mode, which means once someone cracks the game, it'll open just through the application without needing the EGS.

Epic in all honesty probably doesn't really 'need' more people exposed to the launcher, considering how massive Fortnite is/was, they probably still have a bunch of people who have/had the launcher, who will come back or simply load it back up again. I think the whole needing to launch through the EGS is to minimise people from cheating in games (single player games really shouldn't matter, but meh) and just me over assuming, so they can inflate their numbers for how many users are using the EGS to try and "prove" that their storefront isn't inferior to Steam or something and that their numbers are doing well.

Seems like most the games go to Epic first. I prefer steam though over Epic for all the features and game prices. I think steam and epic will continue to go at it.
