I've never had this as an issue when switching cpu's but my only suggestion would to be gently rub it off with some alcohol and a microfiber towel or a paper towel just make sure some of the paper doesn't get stuck.

Here's a video if it helps of someone else with the same issue

go buy it it should be just a few bucks at any store. It isnt necessarily an electronic getting wet on the contacts that kills it. But being wet while sending current through would fry it. so even though alcohol evaporates quickly I would suggest waiting with ample time for it to all dry.

In the video he used 91%, turns out I have 99% isopropanol will I be able to use that without damaging the CPU?

Well, you've got no pins to bend so somewhat lucky there. Get a clean toothbrush or something and try to lightly rub the thermal paste off with some isopropyl alcohol.

99% isopropyl is fine, as would 70% be. The difference is just the water content, so 99% will evaporate much quicker than 70%.

I've used anything from mouthwash to vodka when cleaning off thermal paste. Anything you have should be just fine I think. Just remember to let it fully dry and leave no residue of your cleaning cloth on the CPU itself.

Whatever's handy, and a bottle of vodka's usually not too far away amirite

To be fair, I've used a KFC wet wipe in the past and it did the job lol
