I thought we played well in attack (especially Sterling) but we were poor defensively and at set pieces as well. Also what shocked me was that Pirlo was not marked that much and pretty much dictated Italy's midfield play. However the reason i feel that we lost was because of the heat, if you noticed in the second half we played the ball out from defence quite a lot and I feel players like Jagielka and Cahill moved/passed the ball up-field too slowly, Italy weren't that great at marking us in open space, but we couldn't build up a good attack because the ball gradually was moved around more slowly.

Yeah we played good football on the attack and looked decent but we were weak defensively and Italy were too strong down the right hand side for Baines to cope with and Rooney didn't provide much cover and the Italians exploited this. Sterling looked amazing though and I believe that if we can sort out the defence and play like that over the next 2 games that we can get 6 points and go through.
