Hi!

So I'm looking for some help...

I have a MacBook Pro 2019, i7, 16gb Ram, 512gb SSD, 5300m 4gb GPU.

I've found it's great, I can have many tabs and video open, I use Canva if you're familiar, it's perfect as I do not use "pro apps" and never really had a reason for something like a pro, max or ultra M series. Although I had a base Mac mini M1, which was also great for me.

But, I've recently started using some web / cloud based video editing services and ai tools, all accessed via the website, no download / software / apps.

Since then I've found that I have only 7 tabs open in chrome and a couple things processing in the background on the website, eg, rendering, or ai generation, and I do get slight freezing and lag going between chrome tabs, also it takes a while to finish but not ages.

I heard that a better GPU would only benefit me if I am using apps and software. I don't believe it's ram but then I'm not sure. I used to have the same amount of ram and would game AAA titles while watching YouTube and browsing 10 tabs, although that was on a pc.

Does anyone know if a newer / better mac would A, stop the lagging and freezing when multitasking whilst things are doing what they need to do, and, B, would it speed up these tasks?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks

Check your CPU temp. It's probably thermal throttling.
