I've been playing games like Redm (red dead 2) fivem (gta5)
and sometimes my pc just shuts off completely and I have to restart by flicking the PSU switch on and off to reboot. its really randoms on how often it happens its been months since it stopped but has just started to do it again and it has happened about 8 times this week

I've noticed my CPU package is idling around 45-50C and when playing any games goes to around 68-70C I think its overheating and shutting down to prevent any problems i'm not sure what to do other than maybe reapply thermal paste my specs are

32gb Corsair Vengeance ram 3600mhz
Ryzen 5800x
Corsair H150i Cappelix AIO
Palit 3080ti
ROG strix B550-A
Corsair RM850i PSU

If you have any tips please let me know as its been frustrating me for a while

You say it just shuts off during gaming. Can you download HWInfo64 and see what temperatures your GPU is getting to?
I doubt it's overheating. 68-70C is not bad during gaming.
To be honest this could be a myriad of things. I'd start with re-connecting every connector to and from your power supply.

Also try downloading a stress test or two - if it crashes during a stress test, something is either faulty or not getting enough power delivery. I recommend FurMark and AIDA64.
