PC Supportmy cursor keeps changing after restart. how to fix?

| so i downloaded a cursor and i have .ani file and when i go to mouse setting and browse for it, it applies and all is good. However when i shut down my pc for the night and start it up the next day, it goes back to the default windows cursor. How can i fix this? |

So I couldn't really replicate the problem on my machine running Windows 11 but searching around I found this i.imgur.com/y5p2Po6.png setting that could be forcing the change depending on your Windows version, the checkbox isn't present on Win11 and iirc it left with Aero. Another thing I recall is if you had the theme in Win7 where it made your UI more akin to WinXP, for performance, the pointer would always default back. Alternatively you can try to make your selections of ini's in the GUI and then choose to "Save As..." in the Scheme field to possibly overwrite what the system thinks should be happening, but this may be for nil; when I tried it just changed the scheme permanently. On this topic, most cursor packs come with a .inf folder you can Right Click > Install to have the "Scheme" added to your Mouse Properties. Lastly it seems upon searching some people have to regedit some keys, but I'm not keen on changing Keys but sometimes it's needed. |
