Not too long ago I bought two 1 terabyte 970 EVO plus SSD's from Samsung. Installing one of them was a breeze. But for the second SSD I had to buy a SATA adapter. After waiting for 10 days for the thing to arrive, instead of spending 15 minutes on installing the second SSD I find out that the adapter somehow is of the wrong format, when on the box, literally, it says that the adapter should be compatible with my SSD.

The adapter is LogiLink M.2 (NGFF) to SATA Adapter (B + M key). B means that the little notch on the SSD should be on the left and the M key means that the notch should be on the right. My 970 EVO has the notch on the right side.

But the adapter can't accept the SSD because it can only accept SSD's with the notch on the left. BUT on the package, it says the adapter is B + M.

There must be some kind of a magic trick, right, to fit my SSD in this adapter? Because I don't get it.

Your SSD is NVMe. The adaptor is for SATA m.2 SSD's only, so is incompatible with your 970 EVO.

You'd need to buy an m.2 NVMe to SATA 2.5" enclosure for it to even work, but then you'd be losing all of that speed you get with an NVMe SSD so it wouldn't be a good idea. I'm not even sure if they make adaptors for that.
