Too much depends on it. Why did you sell it? Did you make money? Was something wrong with the car? Are you moving / can't bring the car with you? Did something change in your life that makes it so you are unable to drive it? Was it too expensive? Was insurance too expensive?

What's the back story?

If it's not fit for purpose then you made the right choice.

If that's the only reason, then yes. There's nothing wrong with a granny car, let me walk you through a little of my story with vehicles.

At 15 I bought a 1997 F-150 which I then sold at 18 and bought a 2013 Fusion. I've always been a truck guy, my friends made fun of me, my family said it's a girly car, etc. 3 months later I traded it in on a 2006 F-250 King Ranch and lost $3,000. A couple years later I decided that truck was old and it was only a F-250 so I got a 2011 F-350 King Ranch which blew up after 6 months. That costed me $10,000.

Here's what I have now. Right now I have a 2005 F-350 Lariat that is my "fun truck", it's more of a hobby. Do you know what I daily drive? I daily drive a 2007 Prius. Here's what I learned. I spent so much time money and effort buying into this idea that you have to have a nice vehicle. What I realized is the people saying these things are broke. They are in massive amounts of debt and have nothing to their name, or also drive a POS car and want to razz you.

Long story short, your car isn't the end of your financial journey, focus on a house. Once you save enough to get a nice house then you can buy into having a nice car but for now you just need a vehicle to get you from point A to point B. I just had this conversation with my brother, he had a 2013 Mustang that was paid off but everyone teases him while we are hunting that he doesn't have a truck. He now owns a 2016 Ram Rebel, however he's also $30,000 in debt and lives a little more financially stressed. The Mustang had no issues but he decided he wanted to spend the big bucks on a truck and he's paying for it.

Statistically speaking your car would depreciate in value, but it's not stupid if you didn't loose any money on it.
