Hi, I have an ibuypower pre-built that I bought in 2016 before I knew anything about PCs. It has an i5-6400, an RX480, 16gb of ram, i think an intel h110 motherboard, and a 600w power supply (not sure of the model.) I have about $400 to upgrade. At first I wanted to upgrade my graphics to an rtx 2070, but I cant seem to find one anywhere. My next option is to upgrade my cpu, maybe to a i7-9700k and upgrade my motherboard as well. I also wanted to buy new case fans, as my case only came with one exhaust fan. I havent gotten any only because my motherboard has only one fan header and im not sure how to approach adding 4 or 5 fans. any advice as well as other upgrade options would be appreciated.

The main issue with prebuilts tends to be the cheaping out on things like PSU.

Try to find the model of the psu as that might be the best thing to upgrade next.

However considering what you have said about the MOBO I would recommend maybe looking into a new MOBO and some fans. The graphics card is going to be the most expensive but you want to make sure you aren't just bottlenecking yourself. Bigger Graphics card, Bigger power draw = More pull from the PSU and way more heat.

I can take a look when I get back home from the gym but for $400 you should be able to swing MOBO, Fans, PSU, and might see if there is anything else I can throw in.

How is your storage? Speed on RAM?
