If you can get your hands on one, the Ryzen 5 5600x, it on par with the i9 9900k. If not, I'd definitely go with Intel over Ryzen 3000 series. Not that 3000 series is bad, I use one myself but for gaming Intels offering are superior. 5000 series is a whole new ballpark though, AMD is no longer the "cheaper alternative". |

PCPartPicker Part List
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor (£200.00 @ Currys PC World) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard (£89.95 @ AWD-IT) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (£107.47 @ Scan.co.uk) Storage: Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£79.99 @ Box Limited) Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB KO ULTRA GAMING Video Card (£300.18 @ Amazon UK) Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower Case (£69.99 @ AWD-IT) Power Supply: Corsair TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply (£54.98 @ Amazon UK) Total: £902.56 If you can't get an RTX 2060 for £300, then an RX 5600XT is a perfectly good AMD alternative. One of these 2 will do the job if you go for a 5600XT; uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/n4ZzK...296-01-20g uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/CF3mP...-56xt6tf48 Or, you could just save some money and get a GTX 1660 Super. It's a little slower than an RTX 2060/RX 5600XT, but the 1660 Super is still perfectly adequate for 1080p75Hz. Should be between £220-240 for a 1660 Super, I definitely wouldn't pay more than 240 quid for one. |

For cost efficiency I would suggest AMD, you can get Ryzen sets with sufficient cores and threads that can run any modern game, for cheaper than the Intel counterpart. |

TClarn wrote does it need a cpu cooler? The R5 3600 has an included cooler that will do the job. It's probably worth upgrading to a decent aftermarket CPU cooler at some point, but it's not necessary. If you want an aftermarket cooler, then these are two of the cheaper options I'd be looking at; uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/W3n8T...cmg-5100bk uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/FRYLr...oler-bk021 |
