I have never built a PC before and I have an opportunity to build one now but need help. This computer will be used for running solidworks and fusion 360. I know this is a gaming site but our previous IT guy (no longer with company) was a gamer and he built our computers in accordance. We have several cases, motherboards, cpu...etc laying around.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me with this build? If so , I can post what I have and I'm willing to buy anything that is needed.

Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Mitch

I only need help with what to purchase and what is compatible. I'm good with performing the physical build.

Storage: Currently have Intel SSD 600P Series 258 GB but willing to buy more storage.
Video Card: Nvidia Quadro K620
Case: Raid max but not sure of model number

So, what is your budget and currency then?

AFAIK, Fusion 360, Solidworks and most 3D modeling applications strain the CPU far more than the GPU. That said, the K620 is a super low-end Kepler based Quadro, it's slower than a GTX 750. So, I personally would for sure be upgrading that. I'd stick with a mainstream GPU though, and wouldn't bother with a newer Quadro most likely.

I'd probably buy a nice new case, but if you're happy to use whatever Raidmax case you have, then that would be fine.

Without knowing what budget you have it's hard to sort of help out.

But, from a personal perspective, I actually work as a CAD Engineer and work with very large 3D drawings. I recently had to update the 4 PC's we have in our drawing office at my workplace, I had quite a large budget to work with over the 4 PC's.

2 of them have Ryzen 7 2700X's and the other 2 have Ryzen 7 1800X's and all 4 of them have Quadro P4000's installed along with the 64GB RAM that you mentioned, none of which we have had any problems at all with, the solid renders run just as smooth as the cel renders which is always nice and I can't recall any crashes as of yet.

So you're already on the right track tbh, as 21 said, the K620 is probably not even an entry level CAD GPU anymore, depending on the scale of drawings you work with, if possible I'd 100% invest in a Quadro P Series, ideally anything above the P2000 again depending on the scale of work you do but I have heard the high end gaming GPU's are rapidly getting better for workstations, but I haven't used one personally so yeah, all depends on how much money you got to splash pal.
