So to keep it short there is a special program at my college which allows certain income students get a laptop free of cost for certain majors. My major is Computer Science with a minor in Criminal Justice so needless to say my major was eligible for the laptop. Now there are some other criteria that you need to meet before they will let you have a free laptop such as GPA, amount of credits your taking, how many more semesters you have at the college, etc... So ive chosen to go with a macbook but not sure which one i want to go with because i need this to last at least 2 years and hopefully many more after i graduate. So I have 2 options, both are macbook pros:

Option 1
CPU: 2.6GHz intel core i7 (6 core)
GPU: Radeon Pro 555X (4GB GDDR5)
RAM: 16GB 2400MHz DDR4
SSD: 1 or 2 TB (not sure which one i want to go with yet)

Option 2
CPU: 2.3GHz intel core i9 (8 core)
GPU: Radeon Pro 560X (4GB GDDR5)
RAM 16GB 2400MHz DDR4
SSD: 1 or 2 TB

Option 1 has a base clock speed of 2.6GHz and a turbo boost clock speed of 4.5GHz. Option 2 has a base clock speed of 2.3GHz and a turbo boost clock speed of 4.8GHz, and also a better GPU than option 1.

The second has the $400 i9 CPU option. Max it out if it's paid for.
