Bada boom, The deed is done.

There was an odd issue UK banks only allow you to withdraw £2,000 from inside a bank within 24 hours unless you tell them in advance so I had to split it £2,000 taken from one bank and the £700 from another thankfully I was able to do that.

For all you U.S. guys this is what English fancy money looks like. the photo below is what I took to them it was the full £2,700 in cash with 2 pages of usernames I did try my best to keep the amounts donated up to date so if any of them are wrong I'm sorry but I'm very sure I was able to get everyone named.

https://i.imgur.com/e9WiCMc.jpg

I was really unsure what the reaction was going to be it took me ages to get around to handing them the money as his partner has not really eaten right for awhile and today she was eating when I turned up so I just chatted away and waited until she had finished eating because I knew this may send her into a spin and put her off food.

Anyways I asked her if she wanted to play a game she laughed and said I could use some cheering up so I said shut your eyes I have a gift from some people, I think she was expecting a card or something as the house is full of cards and flowers. because I'm a goofball I said hang on a second its trying to bite me can you put your hands out, the money was in one of those blank pockets banks give you if you look top left of the photo you can just about see it. I dropped that into her hands and said here you go.

She pulled out the money and was totally in shock I could see her trying process it she was totally overwhelmed by it, all that worry just draining away I could see it in real time it was so nice of-course the floods of questions came how, where, who so that sheet of paper did all the explaining for me.

The sheet of paper with the names and amounts I think is what really hit home forget the money to her this man was her world and hes no longer here taken from her in the blink of an eye without any time to plan or enjoy their last moments together if you've ever lost someone while you're in that state of grief you will feel like no one cares more than you and you're the only one who is suffering but when you hand a sheet of paper with the usernames of people from all over the world who donated money for him to help her instantly she understood just how important he was to many and that he had a meaningful impact on the lives of others and I think that's all people want when they are in a state of grief.

In a single action this community has stripped away worry this lady has had, reinforced that Robin was important enough to trigger a reaction across the world that she can see on paper and that will financially assist her during unimaginable pain I'm so incredibly proud.

She said how can I thank you to all of these people I said don't worry I said thanks for you.

Checks and balances
She was given £2,700 today I did remove the donation link from the thread but I forgot to remove the one from the bottom because I'm stupid so 2 people donated after the fact so the total is £2,730.17 this means there is £30.17 still outstanding that I will need to give to her I will take care of that asap but this is all closed now please do not donate anymore as I do need my PayPal back and it would really mess me up if donation money got mixed in with me paying for yoga pants on eBay.

PayPal took no fees from the funds as it was all handled for free due to the donations being handled via my personal account.

I doubt there is any question I've done what I said but this is the internet and all of you should always ask questions so I'm putting together proof of withdrawal, and proof of the funds going to the correct person so this can be confirmed by a 3rd party if needed. I need to do this anyways because the tax man will be asking me the same questions next year due to the funds showing up on my bank account.

Thank you to everyone!

if you donated check your name is in the list if its not send me a PM with a payment ID as we will be sorting out badges in 24/48 hours.

Mikey donated the most so he gets to pick the color and style of the badge feel free to give him ideas the style must be done in CSS.

Huge thank you to Jay for giving me a push to make this thread I've broken the only rule I ever set for myself here and that was to never ask you guys for anything but it was totally worth it.

That **** dust. Shit, it hit me all weekend!

£2,730! Thank you doesn't cut it. Almost paid the entire cost of Robin's funeral after we aimed for what Sean? £500? Hahaha. Now that, that is special.

I don't think we will ever see the community so involved again. The turn out was AWESOME!. And the end result was overwhelming.
I know you didn't want to do this thread as it broke the rule to yourself. But this was for Robin and not a personal gain for you. Knowing we have users who care about others, are not afraid to donate huge amounts. And helping the vulnerable. That's what life is all about. Robin will get the send off he deserves 100% I will personally send funds to cover the cost of some roses mate. (Once ive paid my mortgage haha).

Again, Thank you all for the support during this thread. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Im so glad we as a community managed to raise that amount of cash given the time frame. I dont think you should ever have to worry about asking the community for help. We are a community a big giant family who looks after one another im just so glad the stress and worry is gone for the financial side and it allows you and his family to grieve without the worry

I hope robin has a great send off

God bless

i wasn't able to donate and it made me sad but hey i came up with the badge sent it off to Mikey and took his input and i really hope you all like what we came up with. This community means a lot to me even tho i wasn't able to donate any money i really wanted to contribute one way or another my contribution isn't nearly as big as people who donated but at least it's something i guess.

i really would like to say sorry for your loss from the bottom of my heart to robins family and friends i am really glad members of ttg were able to come together once again and help someone in need

i freaking love you all

side note would have donated but for some reason, PayPal hates my Canadian card

I have never experienced this kind of grief myself and saying "I know what it must feel like" would absolutely be a lie. I'm glad that we came together to make something like this possible. Just like you said in your post, not only did it seem to lift the weight of paying for a whole funeral off her shoulders, but it also reinforced the thought that he mattered not only to her, but also to a lot of other people. He and his story are important to his family, friends and even strangers that came together to this site also thanks to him.

Even though Robin wasn't in the spotlight of TTG, he's part of the reason why we're all here today. He's had a positive impact in many lives, and for that he'll never be forgotten.

RIP Robin and thank you to the community to make this happen.

Can I still donate some to help with the leftover money, or some money to buy flowers? I've got a little extra money now and I would like to contribute. PM me if I still am able to.

All badges have now been applied. Thank you all for the contributions and your support. The design of the badge will change in the near future at the discretion of Mikey as he was the highest donator.

Again, thank you all.

Reading this literally just made me tear up as I'm sitting in labor and delivery with my pregnant fianc. The amount of time, money, effort, etc that is in The Tech Game community is amazing!

I personally may not have known Robin, BUT i can say that knowing someone or not it's still brings heartache knowing about things of that nature. And it also bring happiness and relief knowing that we as a community brightened that woman's heart just a little, relieved a little stress.

I can honestly say im proud to be a TTG member.

Awesome job Jay and Sean and everyone who helped donate.
