Not everyone will survive. An ancient alien race, known only as "Reapers", has launched an all-out invasion leaving nothing but a trail of destruction in their wake. You are Commander Shepard, a character that you can forge in your own image. This new addition to the Mass Effect series is going to bring new futures to the series including multiple endings to the campaign based upon your choices throughout the game play. The enemies are going to be larger and more intelligent than ever before. You will unlock an arsenal fully customizable with different upgrades such as scopes, grips, barrels and dozens of other attachments. Unique impacts and visual flairs have been added to every weapon. The variety of weapons, abilities, and equipment is going to be even more vast than in Mass Effect 2, which was Spikes 2010 Video Game Awards best selling Xbox 360 game.

Mass Effect 3 plunges you into an all-out galactic war to take Earth back from a nearly unstoppable foe and how you fight that war is entirely up to you. Choose a fast-paced cinematic experience or delve into a deeper, more choice-driven narrative. Either way, intense combat propels the action as you fight to unite a war-torn galaxy against a common enemy.

You will once again be on the Normandy SR-2 that has been rebuilt with new areas and new technologies. Now you can explore new locations such as the Asari's, Turian's, Quarian's, and Salarian's home worlds.

Mass Effect 3 will continue where the story left off in Mass Effect 2's Arrival DLC. This time around Mass Effect offers an Action, Role Playing, and Story mode. Each with a unique play style. Action - Jump right in as commander Shepard. The combat difficulty is adjustable and conversations play as cut scenes. Role Playing - This is the traditional Mass Effect experience with adjustable combat difficulty, ability to customize your character and you choose dialog responses. Story Mode - Customize your character and play the game with an interactive story without any difficult combat.

Choose the default or customize your appearance then pick your personnel records. Choose between Soldier, Infiltrator, Vanguard, Sentinel, Adept, or Engineer. Each with their own special abilities, proficiency's, etc. Then move on to your psychological profile where you decide if your a Spacer, Colonist, or Earthborn. You also choose your service history. Are you a sole survivor, a war hero, or just a ruthless killing machine? Then choose how you cope with a significant combat loss. Then start playing!

Join your friends in the all-out galactic war to take Earth back. The universe of Mass Effect expands with the addition of new co-op multiplayer missions, playable over Xbox Live, PSN and PC internet. Players can choose from a variety of classes and races, form an elite Special Forces squad, and combine their weapons, powers and abilities to devastating effect as they fight together to liberate key territories from enemy control. Success in multi-player will have a direct impact on the outcome of the single player campaign, giving players an alternative method of achieving ultimate victory against the greatest threat mankind - and the entire galaxy - has ever faced.

Mass Effect 3 will be the first game of the series have an online multiplayer option. Although it isn't a versus mode like many other games have, fans will be able to fight along side each other against a common threat. Multiplayer will make sense according to the campaign as you will have to take control of key conflict zones in the galaxy. Completing missions will earn you credits to buy arsenal packs. Although you are still able to customize your weapons, appearance, equipment, and powers without the packs.

Classes:

Adept: Biotic Specialist.
Available to Human, Drell, and Asari.
Powers are Warp, Singularity, Shockwave, Pull, Throw, Stasis, Reave, and Cluster Grenade.

Soldier: Can use all special ammo types.
Available to Human, Krogan, Turian.
Powers are Adrenaline Rush, Concussive Shot, Frag Grenade, Marksman, Carnage, Proximity Mine, Fortification, Inferno Grenade, Alliance Training, and Fitness.

Engineer: Tech specialist.
Available to Human, Quarian, Salarian.
Powers are incinerate, Overload, Combat Drone, Cryo Blast, Sentry Turret, Decoy, Alliance Training, Quarian Defender, and Fitness.

Sentinel: Advanced shields, uses tech and biotic abilities.
Available to Human, Turian, and Krogan.
Powers are Throw, Warp, Tech Armor, Overload, Incinerate, Lift Grenade, Alliance Training, and Fitness.

Infiltrator: Tech specialists with cloak ability. Variety of arsenal.
Available to Human, Salarian, and Quarian.
Powers are Sticky Grenade, Tactical Cloak, Cryo Blast,Energy Drain, Proximity Mine, Cryo Ammo, Sabotage, Alliance Training, and Fitness.

Vanguard: Feared for their high-risk high-reward combat style.
Available to Human, Drell, and Asari.
Powers are Biotic Charge, Shockwave, Nova, Alliance Training, and Fitness.




DLC Leak!

On the game's official forums Michael Gamble with Bioware posted this statement:

We're happy to confirm that Mass Effect 3: From Ashes DLC will be available at launch for all platforms. For those of you who have purchased the N7 Collector's Edition (including the PC Digital Deluxe Edition), you will get this content at no extra charge. We'll have a lot more details for you later this week! Stay Tuned!

The first DLC, "From Ashes," leaked to the xbox live marketplace.
It was briefly available for 800 Microsoft Points and was described as:
"Unearth lost secrets from the past and recruit the Prothean squad member in Mass Effect 3: From Ashes."

From Ashes is believed to be the same content included in the Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition, which was previously described as "a 'classified' bonus character and mission." From Ashes was previously revealed on a GameStop receipt under the name "From Dust."
