Well I dont know if this has been posted already but I just found this at mw3f . com/

Known for the popular Call of Duty and the Modern Warfare series that have raked in some insane retail sales figures, Activision is at it again, recently announcing the latest blockbuster, Modern Warfare 3, which is set to throw the gaming experience into the stratosphere. It will be a follow up to the 55 million units in sales Modern Warfare 2 and the 9 figure record shattering Black Ops.

In late January 2011, Activision shook of a nagging law suit filed by Jason and Vince, two former executives, and announced the release date of the Modern Warfare 3 November 2011. Not even an exodus of employees could deter the announcement of the official launch, traditionally November. Activision has, in fact, claimed to have recently received a whopping 5,000 applications to fill up the holes.

Thomas Tippl, the organizations CFO, is already trying to slow down the sales projections. Speaking at a conference earlier this year, he estimates the retail sales of Modern Warfare 3 to be a little lower than those of the hugely successful Black Ops. Considering Black Ops sold about 5.6 million copies on launch day alone, it is not so bad, is it? It went on to pull in revenues of one billion dollars and 600 million hours of play in 2010. Modern Warfare 2 bagged 4.7 million in day one of the launch.

Looking at these figures, Modern Warfare 3 could easily achieve much higher retail sales. While it is still a bit rough on the edges, legions of beta testers are lining up to try out the game. Bloggers and analysts as always are playing their role in wetting gamers appetites and raising anxiety levels. While the launch date is set for the fall of 2011, Modern Warfare 3 is already receiving a lot of airplay in the media waves across the globe.

Despite being outclassed by Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2 has gone on to record sales of over 55 million copies by the end of 2009. While Thomas and his bean counters at Activision are still arranging the stacks of dough in their tills brought in by these two games, they are going to have to create more space. Activision has called for backup on the online elements of the Modern Warfare 3 game and for this they have enlisted the Wisconsin-based software company, Raven. If this works out fine on the two-player and online elements (and it will), retail sales could multiply and set new records. Probably even hit the 10 million mark on launch day.

If the hype and the reviews of the MW3 are anything to go by, sales figures could go through the roof. They could multiply rather than increase, if the multiple-player and the online sections come out perfectly. Activision have put in a lot of emphasis on these sections of the games, as they know too well that gamers can easily fry the game if it comes with issues.

Well, sales projections of the Black Ops were a bit modest but turned out different. If this is a notable trend, we could be looking at a new record in sales figures by this fall.

Infinity ward really needs to spend serious time on MW3, if MW3 turns out like MW2 they will be in some serious ****

Plus they have to hire ALOT of new staff as they all left infinity ward after MW2.
