Yeah, I don't plan on modding games, I'm more interested in the computer security, but that would be just for fun or when I have a lot of spare time.

Any opinions on what Visual Basic can do?

If this is your first time doing a c variant language then do not start with c++. It will confuse you. So i suggest you start with c and c#. This will give you what you need to really be able to use c++.

I would disagree.... It really isn't all that hard and since he also has a book and the Internet it would be all that hard jumping right into C++. It would take a little time but I don't think that he shouldn't learn it because C++ is a good useful language that can be learned without c or c#

Yeah, I'm reading my dad's calculus book right now, my attention is directed towards that, but I would like to come back to learning some programming after this... I don't intend on staying on this current book for long, though. :\
