Come on man he wants a gaming PC. He doesn't need a ryzen 5 w/ a water cooler. For gaming he would get better performance with a 580 & ryzen 3.

@OP you can get a cheap windows 10 key, or just install it and use it in trial mode, free, forever.
Also, you probably won't benefit from a DVD drive. I have one and unplugged it to add another ssd, never used it.

It's $200 over OP's budget and doesn't include a monitor, as required. Plus the R5 2400G makes no sense, he could get an R5 2600 for the same price or save $30 and get an R5 1600.

OP- Would be useful to know which specific games you'll be playing and what else you're using the system for. Sounds like you'll be playing some not so demanding games so an $800 budget would be more than adequate, just don't pay $100 for your OS lol.

Eclipse P300 would be the budget case I'd go for, if you want something a little nicer, the NZXT H500 is a great option for it's price(~$70). Phanteks Eclipse P350x is a bit better/nicer than the P300 and can be had for $60 now and again, I think it's $70 currently though which is still a reasonable price for it tbf. Fractal Design Meshify C is a great option when it's around $70, but it was up towards $90 recently. Amazon do have the Meshify C in stock for $75 currently though, so if you like that I'd grab one before they go back up to around $90 since it's not such an appealing option at that price IMO.

I included an ultrawide monitor because I'd want something better than 1080p. If you don't like the 21:9 aspect ratio with an ultrawide, then I'd keep an eye out for 1440p monitors. I wouldn't get this specific one;

but as an example, it shows you can get 1440p for <$180. I've seen some nice 1440p monitors go on sale for $170-180 but they're all $200+ currently. If you keep an eye out though, I'm certain you'll find a sale(Black Friday is coming up) on a decent 1440p monitor. Maybe even keep an eye out for refurbished models potentially.

For storage, I left the 2TB HDD in but added an SSD. However, if you don't require loads of storage immediately, I would definitely just get a 480-512GB SSD for now, and add an HDD later. Hard drives are easy to add at any point anyway, and the 480GB BX500 linked above is good, but you can get an 860 EVO for $80 which is a steal;

8GB RAM will be fine for now, but I'd probably add another 8GB at some point. RAM prices seem to be coming down anyway, hopefully. You'll definitely want faster than 2400MHz RAM with Ryzen though, 3000/3200MHz is ideal.

RX 570 is cheaper than the 1050Ti and a far better GPU. It should also be more than adequate for your uses, but I can't be sure since I don't know exactly what you'll be using the system for. You could get a 4GB RX 580 for only $10 more than the 570 if you wanted;

The RX 570 is pretty close to the RX 580 in performance anyway though, and the 580 has a lesser cooler than the 570. Not that the cooler will limit the 580, the Strix 570 is just nicer as it has a backplate and RGB LEDs, which the RX 580 does not have.

first of all, thanks a lot guys for the input. Life has been hell lately so the help is really appreciated.

To answer the question about what specifically I play. back when I had a computer. I played Grand strategy mostly, games like Total War, Europa Universal, or Dungeon Crawlers like Diablo. I picked up Fallout 4 but my computer crapped about a month later so I didn't really sink my teeth into that. So for close to two and a half years I've been on Playstation exclusively which sucks. Edit: I'm interested in the Total War Warhammer games if you want something specific I'm going to play. I'm pretty laid-back Graphics wise, I won't cry if I can't have high settings.

I only have one shift tomorrow so I will try to read the tutorials. that way I don't have to ask anymore questions. I do have two things I'm curious about though.
1. Are there any issues with the larger screen on some games? I'm sure there are a few, but is it a large number?
2. Regarding the case. does it really just boil down to aesthetic and maybe USB ports? Is there something I'm missing about some of the cases?

Also other than gaming, web browsing, discord, Twitter, Youtube. maybe screen cast Netflix to the den, but mostly just gaming, and again thanks a lot for the help guys. This can really get overwhelming so this all really helps.
