Hi everyone,

Last night I had an EA account hacked, was able to get it back very smoothly through EA support. The hacker was able to change the password on the account and after that was able to get change the email etc. to lock me out. Since the hacker was able to change the password I'm assuming that the hacker must have had access to my email as well unless there's a backdoor way to change it. At this point I am concerned of a hacker being in my PC and being able to access it. Are there any programs I can download to check for such things or am I just over thinking it? Thanks in advanced.

Also if there is a more suitable forum for this please let me know, haven't been on TTG in a minute.

If you're worried about someone being inside your PC

1. Download this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Run a full scan

2. Run a full scan on Windows Defender

Click the start icon or the search bar at the bottom left, click Windows defender

3. Check task manager, if you see any weird processes running, right click them and open file location

Some virus/malware may look like this rhud38chsb.exe
Easy to spot

However some virus/malware will spoof another process making it more difficult to find

While in task manager, close all other programs, check your network usage

If it's going haywire there's a chance there's someone using your PC as a slave in the background

4. Open a command prompt as administrator
and type sfc /scannow
There's a chance this could root out some malware depending on what kind of malware it is and how it's affecting your PC

It'll tell you it's either found integrity violations or it hasn't

5. Open a command prompt as administrator and type netstat -ano

Look at all of the connections and their address', if you see any unrecognised address' this could be something a piece of malware is using to send/receive data/commands

6. Last stop, look for a tutorial on wireshark to monitor your PCs data it's sending and recieving

Side notes:

I have about 30+ attempts on my EA account per month, I had data on several websites that were breached over the years, the hackers that buy the dump of these username:passwords seem to go for EA accounts

I have 2 Step Auth using my mobile, whenever this option is available on a site, take it, it'll save you to much time and possibly money

Other telltale signs of malware/virus/another user inside your PC

Look for slow start ups that weren't there before

Your PC freezing up

Process's starting and stopping

Your PC may even blue screen
